About Us
Louise Crosbie was horse mad from an early age. Although she was not from a horsey family and her mum was a single parent with a sole income, that didn't stop her from following her passion! She started out working at Broadacres Riding School in exchange for lessons, then leased a pony and the rest has grown from there!
She has since competed successfully at many levels in various disciplines including eventing, show jumping, dressage, pony trots, Prince Phillip mounted games, bush races, novelties, hacking and western. When she first left school she worked in pacing, racing, show, agistment and riding stables throughout Western Australia.
Louise belonged to pony club and was a member of the BEATS Squad and Showjumping WA Development Squad. She has also held a pacing trainers license and is a qualified horse riding instructor and trail guide through Horse Safety Australia.
In 2015 Louise completed the Guiness World Record longest, toughest horse race - The Mongol Derby, a 1000km race across the Mongolian Steppe in a maximum of 10 days on semi wild Mongol ponies. She also competed in Race the Wild Coast in South Africa in 2016. In both 2018 and 2019 Louise was the Best of the West Stockmans Challenge overall ladies champion. In 2018 Louise and three others did an unsupported charity ride with a pack horse, riding 500km from Denmark to Cardup, WA raising over $8000 for Beyond Blue. Louise and her team have performed at many events across the state.
Louise lives and breathes horses. She is aware that you never ever stop learning, so she is constantly trying to increase her knowledge by regularly reading, networking with her peers and attending various clinics & courses with top horsemen and women from around the world.
Horsewest was officially launched in the new year of 2005. Louise currently runs Horsewest full time.
