Providing the right start for your horse is essential if
they are to reach their true potential. It is also a
worthwhile investment in their future. We establish
trust, respect and confidence in the horse by starting
first with ground work (on line and at liberty), then
proceeding to work under saddle.
We first form a relationship with the horse at liberty
in the round yard. Fundamentals such as picking up
feet, tying up and the 7 natural horsemanship games
are then taught on line. We then use John O'Leary's
mouthing system to put a good mouth on the horse.
They are then taught to stand calmly while being
mounted from both sides, how to flex laterally,

the horse is taken out in the open alone and with other horses. They are also introduced to walking over a
tarp, popping over a small log and scary objects such as cars/motorbikes around the property.
All horses are not the same and nor are all owners requirements, but generally about 6-8 weeks is ideal to
provide a good solid foundation. We also suggest that the owner should have a couple of rides before the
horse goes home. We are able to start horses as well as ponies of all ages, breeds and sizes.
