We have been barefoot trimming our own horses and other peoples horses for many years now. We have
attended the Equethy Barefoot Trim Course and studied various other trimming methods. All ou horses are
barefoot and we successfully competes our thoroughbreds barefoot over various terrain. We are a big
believer that horses are better off barefoot and have seen the improvement first hand on many horses that
have made the transition from shoes.

Here at Horsewest we are starting to see the benefits in power trimming using a grinder fitted with a special
German made disc designed for trimming hooves. You are able to get a much better trim and the horse
doesn't have to stand on three legs for as long. It is also much less physically demanding on the trimmer.
Surprisingly most horses don't mind the noise. If they do, we will patiently work with them to accept it (a
great desensitising exercise!). We also always carries the more traditional tools with us as a back up.

The disc provides a good natural wear taking the hoof off layer by layer, rather than in one big chunk. You
are also able to effectively polish rock hard soles and bars that a hoof knife won't penetrate in summer.

We cater to all breeds whether miniature or draft horse.
We are also able to supply and fit a large range of hoof boots.

Horsewest offers hoof trims for $40.
Price may vary depending on distance travelled.
